Access NoteUse of the Huntington Library requires a reader card. Cards are available to faculty, library staff of research institutions, PhD candidates, and qualified independent scholars. Individuals wishing to apply for reading privileges should submit an application to the Reader Services Department well in advance of a planned visit. Applications from PhD candidates and independent scholars require letters of recommendation and a list of collections the researchers wishes to consult. The Library is open to holders of current readers' cards Monday through Saturday: Monday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday: 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Wednesday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Thursday: 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Friday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The Library is closed to readers on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day.
