The Newark City Plan Commission was a nine-member body appointed by Mayor Jacob Haussling. It communicated with and conferred with the Board of Street and Water Commissioners and consulted with various experts with the aim of drawing up a comprehensive plan for city development over the next hundred years. The volume containing handwritten minutes of the Commission covers the period from June 7, 1911 (first meeting) to June 19, 1913.
