Collection Description The collection consists of ledgers and daybooks of A.P. Baldwin, a Newark and New York businessman engaged in foreign and domestic trade. Baldwin's operations extended to the southern United States and England. In Newark the company specialized in saddling and hardware. Several ledgers have the transactions divided as to whether they are Newark or New York; others list transactions only by the customer's name. The Newark entry for January 31, 1856 includes an inventory of Baldwin's assets and debts.
